Two months ago I turned 30…and it was the best birthday I can ever remember having! On a whim, we decided to head north to Bellingham for an adventure – it was close enough to enjoy in one day, and we had never been there in our nearly 10 years together. Um, what?!? So, we drove up to Port Townsend, caught the ferry to Whidbey Island, watched an Orca pod swim by, and explored along the way to Bellingham. We checked out some lovely parks, shopped in some cute shops, ate delicious pizza, and then found the perfect setting for watching the sunset and felt our hearts become so full.
Before my 30th came along, I always had such a hard time enjoying my birthday. Yeah, weird, I know. I have no real reason for it other than perhaps, a lack of confidence or self love? I’ve also always struggled with celebrating me in general, so I’m sure that didn’t help. Either way, this birthday celebration was a sort of rebirth for me because I was able to let go of all the previous years of birthday depression…and it was refreshing, to say the least. What a perfect day, with perfect views and perfect company! I can’t wait for more happy birthdays on this beautiful planet, with this amazing family, adventuring to incredible places near and far and appreciating the life I have.
