These two flew out from Wisconsin to have some quintessential PNW vibes grace their engagement photos. I think we nailed it.
Mountains. Fog. Deer. Donuts. These two kissin' in the headlights at dusk. Yeah, this Hurricane Ridge engagement session session was every bit as perfect as it sounds. Okay, except for the fog. Because it wasn't fog, it was wildfire smoke. But let's just pretend it was fog, because I don't like wildfire smoke. But I DO have a thing for fog, and it all looks the same in photos right? Right.
Britt + Robbie are adventurous. They came to visit from Wisconsin and wanted some stellar photos to take back home. The kind of photos with mountains and things that Wisconsin doesn't have.
Their visit just so happened to coincide with one of our worst weeks for wildfire smoke in the PNW (ugh). But they took it all in stride, didn't let it stress them out, and trusted me to watch the weather so we could reschedule for better conditions. We were able to wait it out and had what I think was the perfect amount of fog* + mountain views for their engagement session up at Hurricane Ridge, in the Olympic National Park.
They're in love. Adorable, ambitious, fun. They're also donut lovers. I, too, love donuts, but am super allergic to all of the things that make a donut good. As we were walking around the mountain, Brittney told me how much they love donuts, even rattling off all the different places they had already bought donuts during their stay. That's when she said they actually had some in their car...and that's when those pastry-inspired moments were born. If I can't eat donuts, I'm gonna live vicariously through those who can. And maybe through some weird form of photo osmosis, I'll feel that sugar-dough-bliss too.
Shortly after the sugar was gone, a couple of resident deer must have caught a whiff and gifted us with a visit (don't worry, we didn't feed them donuts). We moved quickly and in whispers as not to spook those little cuties and they stayed for a few photos. Britt & Robbie were cool shooting until last light, so we got a little weird with it in the headlights of their car.
They'll be getting married next year back in Wisconsin, surrounded by their best people. I'm so excited we were able to create some memories for them here in the PNW, despite the wildfire smoke.
I'm also happy there were donuts.
