I'm partial to small weddings - they're my specialty because they're my style. Also known as micro weddings, elopements, intimate weddings. Whatever you want to call them, they all generally operate on the same idea of being down-to-earth, relaxed, and non-traditional. When Erica reached out to me with the plans for their backyard elopement in Poulsbo, she said "the more low key and free-spirited, the better". Music to my ears - one of my favorite things to hear.
Erica + Paul have such a unique story and a strong connection. I 100% cried during their vows because they were just so moving, and also because tears are contagious. But then tears turned to laughter when they realized they had both referenced a very specific and funny event in their relationship together, in their vows -- even though they wrote them separately.
This backyard just so happens to be Erica's parents' home - I loved getting to know Erica's parents - they're such genuinely kind humans. In fact, her dad has been meat-free for longer than I've ever done anything in my whole life, and he also has lovingly named some of the tall tree guardians in their gorgeous backyard. Which is the cutest and most compassionate thing I could honestly ever think of.
For such a short + sweet celebration, it was packed full of concentrated goodness and all the best things: amazing humans, authentic mexican food, great music, and DOGS. The cutest dogs. I could honestly photograph weddings with my dogs all damn day (any takers??). Erica + Paul, you two are perfect.
