When you live and love the PNW, you can't let a little rain slow you down. Sarah & Danny weren't scared of a little liquid sunshine while they celebrated their engagement on the beach.
Is this session proof that rainy engagement photos are fun? ABSOLUTELY, and I'm here to convince you. The forecast called for rain, but these two were down to do their engagement session anyway. This is the PNW, afterall, so I say let’s just embrace that shit! And they soooo did. They danced in the drizzle and got weird with it in the best way. Just being themselves and lovin’ on each other.
It's natural to want to control things so your vision can come to life. But not everything is within our control...and sometimes what happens instead is better than what you could've imagined. Just showing up ready to embrace whatever unfolds is what really sets the mood for magic.
Danny + Sarah strike me as the kind of people who can roll with whatever life brings their way. They're just so dang excited to be together. They’re tying the knot in August and I’m so stoked to see how their big day goes down! Thanks to these two for being so down-to-earth and going with the flow.
Worried that a little rain shower will ruin your engagement session? Here are a few tips to having magical photos, rain or shine:
- Practice being present in your relationship and leading up to your session. Notice the tiny moments that really make you feel connected to one another.
- Find a photographer that makes you feel understood. Be willing to develop some trust for them and their craft and just let them get to know your personalities.
- Arrive to your session with an open mind, ready to just roll with what unfolds.
- Remember that rain or shine, your love is strong and that's why we're creating these amazing photos to begin with. Remember those tiny moments you cherish? We're gonna live in that space when we're documenting you.
- Focus on each other - and always, always, always be touching.
- Hold space for photos that will be totally unique to you and incomparable to whatever pinterest trends are out there.
The secret is: when you don't create some grand expectation of what you think it should look like in your head, you'll end up with good stuff you couldn't have planned. Give yourselves and your photographer the space to be creative and just practice being present. Even when it rains.
