A weekend full of their favorite people, an easy-going vibe, and the relaxed wedding that fit them so perfectly. Who can resist a party weekend on Whidbey?
Who else loves chill weddings? I'm a low-key kinda gal myself, so this relaxed Whidbey Island destination wedding really felt like home to me. Adam's family owns a little homestead a stone's throw from Seattle, where he and Hana have spent many weekends creating memories together. The celebration was heavily unscheduled, the drinks were abundant, and views were picturesque, to say the least. Hana + Adam's day was all about those unmistakable island life vibes.
What really struck me about these two is how fun and down-to-earth they are. When they decided to book me, Adam actually ended his reply with "YOLO, right?". I gotta say, that's my favorite "we want you to photograph our wedding" reply to-date. The wedding vibes were modern + free-spirit, with simplicity and togetherness as the main focus. It all pulled together perfectly - I especially adore Hana's two piece silk dress with the lace coverup. And those jeweled heels!
Their day was very family-centered; the barn that hosted their reception party was actually built by Adam and his brothers, and Hana's mom created the amazing food spread, floral design, and wedding cake! Most DIY weddings have a tendency to be a bit stressful for the bride + groom, but these two had the right mindset for it all - as long as they were together, it was all good.
I may have gotten one of the worst sunburns of wedding season that day (of course I wore sunblock, but that sun was intense), but it was 100% worth it. Whidbey Island is forever a favorite wedding destination of mine. Can't wait for more fun nuptials this summer!
PS: I found out later that Macklemore was on the island that night too. Maybe next time we'll cross paths?!
