They said their vows at the courthouse, then ran away to the coast to soak up all the best memories. The rain couldn't even slow them down. Autumn & Isaiah get what's really important in life.
They wanted something outside the typical: wedding photos with a little bit of wild at their favorite place, Ruby Beach. They had a vision of dancing and running their way through the sand on their favorite beach, freshly married. Rain or shine, ready to just have some fun. Perfect.
Listen: I have a weak spot for anyone who's not afraid to play in the rain. A little bit of liquid sunshine only makes things look more magical; anyone who can roll with is the kind of human I want to photograph. Who cares about runny makeup, untamed hair, or soaked clothes, when all those things can bring unfiltered emotion through to the surface?
Let go of control over the tiny things. Just play on the beach while your hair is whipping against your faces as you try to kiss each other. This is how we get photos that are so real and raw and magical. Yes it's messy, but life is messy. It's about not giving a fuck about the extra stuff because you're hand-in-hand with your favorite human in the whole world! Nothing can ruin that, especially not a rainy day.
Ok. I'll stop my rain rant...for now.
Anyway, Autumn and Isaiah weren't worried about the rain, like the true gems they are. Autumn decided she wouldn't wear makeup if the forecast was calling for rain - HONESTLY MY FAVORITE THING. It did rain (obviously) and we just had fun with it.
My lenses held a consistent coating of saltwater mist and it only added to the stormy PNW beach vibes. These two were clearly just happy to be there, at their favorite place, married and ready to take on the world together. Dancing, running, cuddling, getting sandy and salty.
As if it were a bonus to welcoming the rain, we were blessed with a gorgeous glowing pink and orange sunset to wind down our session. Such a symbolic representation of life in general: embrace the messy parts, enjoy the little things with the ones you love. Make some wedding photos in destinations that bring magic to your life, like Ruby Beach.
That's what it's all about, I think.
