So I do this thing, y’know, ‘lifestyle photography’. It might seem sort of ambiguous and not quite self-explanatory sometimes. But what I mean by it is photography that doesn’t fit the mold of pro lighting, seamless backdrops, heavy posing and the like (all wonderful things, just not my strong suit). I like to do what I do best – just go with the flow, letting inspiration take me away, and creating images that show real interactions, love and happiness.

When my friend Gretchen wanted a family session, I was super thrilled. Her family is adorable, fun, creative, silly and just plain awesome. So when the day of our session decided to throw some seriously Washington weather our way, we showed it what was up. We’re talking dreary, rainy and just plain COLD (seriously, it even snowed later that day); but in spite of it all, these three made their own bright sunshine and adventured on. Which is proof of how awesome they are. And this is exactly what I mean when I say ‘lifestyle’ photography:
